Thinkout Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 6, 2026
Thinkout is an app where you practice writing and thinking on your own. This page says what data the app uses, why, who else gets it, and how to delete it.
Who we are
Thinkout is made by Jakub Zajíček, Czech Republic. Email: jakub@jakubzajicek.com. Under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), we are the controller of your data.
What we collect, and why
1. What you write in the app. Your answers, ideas and rewrites, your 1-on-1s with Coach, and your Speed round answers.
- To give you feedback, the app sends what you write to an AI service (see "Who else gets your data"). Coach's notes are how Thinkout works, so the app asks for your OK once, before anything is sent, and needs it to go on. To stop, delete your account and data (see "Delete your data").
- What you write is also part of your backup (point 2).
- If you write that you might hurt yourself, the app doesn't send it anywhere. It shows you where to get help right away, and nothing about it is saved.
2. Your backup. Your progress is backed up to our server, so you get it back if you delete the app and put it back on the same phone. The backup holds your levels, points, streak and path, what you wrote and Coach's notes on it, your settings, and the answers you gave when you set up the app. It is stored under a random account ID. We never ask for your name, email or phone number.
3. A summary for us. Each time the app opens, it sends a few numbers under the same random account ID: your level, points, streak, how many Thinkouts and 1-on-1s you did, and the day you last played. We use them to see how the app is used and to make it better. They never include what you wrote.
4. Technical data. Your random account ID and your IP address, used to keep the service safe and to limit how much of it 1 account can use each day. These usage counts are deleted after 3 days. Our server also keeps short technical logs for fixing errors.
5. The waitlist. If you join the waitlist on thinkoutapp.com, we keep your email address, the day you joined, and the page or link that sent you there. We use it only to email you when Thinkout opens, with your early access and founding price. We may use an email service (such as MailerLite or Postmark) to send that email. Every email has a way to leave the list, or email us and we delete your address. It is stored with Supabase (see below).
6. Your subscription. If you subscribe to Thinkout Pro, Apple takes the payment. RevenueCat, the service we use for subscriptions, gets your random account ID and your purchase history from Apple: what you bought, when, and when it renews or ends. The app and our server use it to know you have Thinkout Pro. We never see your card or your Apple Account details.
We don't show ads, track you across other apps or websites, sell your data, or use outside analytics tools. Reminders are set on your phone and never leave it.
Who else gets your data
- AI services, only after your OK: OpenAI, Anthropic and Google (Gemini). They get the text you wrote and the Thinkout it belongs to, so they can read it and write Coach's notes. They don't get your name or contact details, because we don't have them. They handle it under their API terms, don't use it to train their models, and may keep it for a limited time for safety checks before they delete it.
- Supabase, our server and database host. It stores your backup and the waitlist, and runs the code that talks to the AI services.
- RevenueCat, our subscription service, if you subscribe. It gets your random account ID and your purchase history (point 6).
- Apple, for downloads, and for payments if you subscribe. We never see your payment details.
Each of these companies is bound by its terms with us to protect your data at least as well as this policy does. Some of them are in the United States. Transfers outside the EU are covered by the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework or by the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
Why we're allowed to use it
- Running the app you asked for (a contract with you), for Coach's notes (which need the AI services), your backup, your progress and your subscription. Before anything goes to an AI service, the app also asks for your clear OK.
- Your consent, for the waitlist: you give it by joining, and you can take it back anytime.
- Our legitimate interest in a safe and affordable service, for the summary numbers, the usage limits and the technical logs.
How long we keep it
- Your account and backup: until you delete them.
- Waitlist emails: until you leave the list, or 6 months after the app opens, whichever comes first.
- Usage counts: 3 days.
- Subscription records: as long as you're subscribed, and after that as long as tax and accounting laws require.
- Technical logs: a few days.
- AI services: only for the limited time their API terms allow for safety checks.
Delete your data
In the app, open Settings (or the gear on the subscription page) and tap Delete my account and data. This deletes your account and your backup from our server, and everything in the app on your phone. It can't be undone.
Deleting the app alone doesn't delete your backup, so the same phone can get it back. If you subscribed, deleting your data doesn't cancel the subscription: cancel it in your Apple Account settings (Settings, your name, Subscriptions).
Your rights
You can ask to see your data, correct it, delete it, get a copy, or object to how we use it. Email jakub@jakubzajicek.com. You can also complain to the Czech data protection authority (Úřad pro ochranu osobních údajů, www.uoou.cz) or to the authority where you live.
Children
Thinkout is for adults. It isn't meant for anyone under 16.
Changes
If this policy changes, we update this page and the date at the top. For big changes, we also tell you in the app.
